However a parcel I sent to Scotland by next-day delivery took 5 days to arrive, as well as a parcel coming from Scotland first class took 4 days.

Q: Can you outline any difficulties experienced if you had to collect your own mail rather than receive it at home?
A: Deliveries were not made – although Royal Mail tracking system would say delivery attempted (which was not true – as in all day, no card left etc). One time, I went to delivery office to collect myself only to be told that they can’t find item on system or on site. Guy just shrugged his shoulders. Told me to wait and see if it will be delivered in next couple of days and if not to let them know. Totally unacceptable and shoddy. I have been at this address since Dec 2006 and the postal service here has always been horrendous! There had been no Saturday delivery to the mill for years – and it took me ages to sort that out!

Q: Can you outline any difficulties experienced if you had to collect your own mail rather than receive it at home?
A: Delivery problems with Royal mail in the local area were not unique to the Christmas period. For whatever reason we continue to have issues getting our daily post – which comes late afternoon, and even more so with Royal Mail-delivered parcels, which tend to be 48 hours late. 2 weeks ago I received an email from RM telling me they had delivered my parcel when they hadn’t – it came 2 days later. The following week they sent me an emailing telling me they had failed to deliver and had left a card – they hadn’t left a card and I had been in all day, so I know for a fact that they never attempted delivery. I have complained to RM, but nothing seems to have been done
