Making Welfare Bill a little, well, fairer

Neil_Tower_Bridge.jpg

The Welfare Reform Bill had its final Commons debate on 27th October. I intervened several times and spoke in the debate to highlight the Tories’ appalling record and the awful potential impact of its measures on people in Bermondsey and Old Southwark.

I also introduced a new clause to the Bill to try and ensure disabled people who become terminally ill get better support. There are indications that the Government might take up my amendment but this has not been confirmed.

A written record of the full debate is online at:http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201516/cmhansrd/cm151027/debtext/151027-0001.htm#15102736000002

The short introduction of the new clause is in the video below
