Transport Update

I have received this positive news following my meeting with the Deputy Mayor for Transport where I asked specifically about extending the cycle hire scheme into Rotherhithe. The area is underserved currently by most transport, especially the cycle hire scheme and it is positive news that TfL will be considering extending the scheme to link with the new cyclist and pedestrian bridge which the Mayor, Sadiq Khan, announced will be delivered by 2020.  I will continue pressing on this issue.

I will also be chasing one of TfL’s directors over the commitment to investigate ‘mitigating’ measures following the closure of Tower Bridge. The traffic jams, increased air pollution and congestion across the north of Southwark is horrific currently and TfL appear to have underestimated the impact of the closure of the bridge.

My survey on local transport issues, including roads, buses, the bridge, cycling and tube issues is online at: http://www.boslabour.org.uk/transport_survey_2016 – please do let me know your views.
